*** Sule & Mert, from Istanbul, 01 November 2008:
Simdilik elveda masal evi;
Burasi hakikaten masal evi
doyabilirmiyiz buraya, orasida ayri taraf:-) Bahce kapisindan
gun buraya yerlesme planlari yaparak ayriliyoruz Ayvalik'tan.
Raki-Balik-Ayvalik uclemesi hayatimizin vazgecilmez bir zevki artik!
Tekrar gelicez Masal Evi! Ergin bey ve esinede cok tesekkurler.
Evim evim guzel evim...
icin sizlere cok tesekkur ederiz. Terastaki manzara esliginde
aktiviteydi benim icin...Bahcede kahvalti keyfi, aksam
raki-balik-Ayvalik uclemesi, asma katta dergi keyfi, o guzel mutfakta
yemek hazirlamak, hersey cok guzeldi. Herseyin boyle kalmasi dilegiyle;
boyle kalsin olurmu?
*** Toby & Amanda, from Navada, USA, 28 October 2008:
Dear Shelagh and Ergin,
We were beginning to get worried that we would not find a special place
in Turkey during our honeymoon and then we came to Ayvalik. The guest
house is a calming port in a storm after erratic planes and buses. We
appreciated the instant feeling of comfort from the moment we stepped
off the bus till our last hours in town. The information folder and
literature was helpful in navigating the plethora of tea houses and
food shops. We will always remember this place fondly.
*** Rabia & Ahmed, from Istanbul, 11 October 2008:
Balayi
Ilk
gun bizi karsiliyan ve eve getiren Ergin Bey'in kibarligi,
misafirperverligi, kulturu ve samimiyeti evin atmosferi ile
butunlesmisti. Evin dizayni, rahatligi, bahcesi ve manzarasi
muhtesemdi. Misafirlerin rahatligi icin hicbir detayi es gecmeyen Ergin
Bey ve esine tesekkur ederiz.
*** Fiona & Tayfun, from Geneva, Switzerland, 05 October 2008:
Ayvalik and Cunda are magic!
For
me the best moments were sitting in the garden enjoying the pomegranate
tree and olive trees; picking herbs for dinner and listening to the
city sounds. For Tayfun, it was a moment to discover a town he had
heard so much about and finally was able to enjoy. A wonderful calm
home. A little oasis of tranquillity and great hospitality.
*** Louise & Max, from London, 30 October 2008:
Dear Ergin and Shelagh
What
a wonderful home and a fabulous place to stay and relax, eat, cook and
get to know Turkey. Watching the sunsets from the balcony (and lowering
down the basket to collect baklava and cigarettes) before heading out
to try all manner of delicious Turkish food is something we cannot,
sadly, transport back to London. We particularly enjoyed Cunda Island
and your restaurant recommendation - and we are heading there again
tomorrow before we head back home, to grow fat on the highly addictive
peppers stuffed with shrimp! We would very much like to stay again and
explore more of Turkey. You have thought very carefully and kindly
about how to make this house and home for your guests and for that we
thank you.
Kind regards
*** Hakki & Ilke, from Istanbul, 24 September 2008:
Tek kelime ile muhtesemdi. Insanin Ayvalik'ta bir evi oldugunu bilmesi cok guzel.
*** Nick & Nay
from London, England, 20 September 2008:
Thank
you for the wonderful stay. You could not have been more hospitable,
accommodating hosts. The house is clearly a labour of love. Beautifully
finished with every last detail thought of. You must look forward to
the winter months when you are here yourselves.
All the best, thank you again.
*** Ina & Stephan
from Berlin, Germany, 07 September 2008:
Dear Shelagh and Ergin
We enjoyed
your lovely,
peaceful and beautiful house and garden really deeply. One can see all
the care with which you composed all the details into a whole. It is a
place to calm down and relax and a place that is so nice that - on the
one hand we would recommend to all our friends and on the other hand -
should be kept as a strict secret to enjoy on our own.
Ina
Hey Ho you two!
Wow, this was
a very fine
vacation! We really enjoyed the stay - way too short but we will come
back for sure! Only bad thing is the fact that we loved the place so
much we didn't want to do any sightseeing ...Hope to see you again.
Thank you.
Stephan

Dear Ergin and Shelagh, thank you so much for your warm welcome in
Ayvalik and your beautiful house. It was like to be home, full of nice
details that make the differance and make us feel very comfortable
here. It was beautiful to have dinner outside in the garden, with all
the flowers around and the voice of muezzin singing. We will always
remember this place. Hope to see you again.
*** Bora & Gamze from Istanbul, 13 August 2008:
Burada dogmadik ama bu evde yasadiklarimizla burali olmak istedik.
Sabah kahvaltimiz, kedilerimiz, gunesin batisi, yagmurun sesi...Hepsi
biz sanki cok uzun zamandir burdaymisiz gibi bizi karsiladi. Birlikte
gecirdigimiz ilk tatili bizim icin essiz kildiniz.

*** Emi & Naso from Sofia, Bulgaria, 02 August

This was our first substantial trip in Turkey. We are happy we found
Ayvalik and your house - it gave us plenty of passion to have one of
our own. We will ever remember its atmosphere and the marvellous
evenings in the garden. Thank you!

Although it rained almost a whole week, we truly enjoyed the clean and
warm house and welcome Shelagh and Ergin provided. This house deserves
the kind of people who deserves it.

*** Dave and
Liz from East Yorkshire, UK 06 October 2007:
We've had a splendid time here in Ayvalik, the house and garden are
terrific, the weather fantastic and the hosts friendly and helpful.
We've visited Seytan Sofrasi for the view, Badavut for a walk on the
beach to the rock formations. We've also been to Cunda and to Patricia
twice, once for the quiet bay off the left fork and once to walk
through the olive groves to the ruined monastery. The highlight of our
visit though has to be the market on a Thursday - amazing, and also the
Akropol at Pergamum. It's time for a final highlight, a cool Effes in
the warm of the evening in this quiet, relaxing garden.
*** Tjeerd
Abma from Holland 29 September 2007:

The beautiful town of Ayvalik and this gorgeously restored antique
house surpassed our wildest dreams of what Turkey's Aegean coast could
offer. Tastefully decorated, warmly inviting with every element of the
local area (like olives and cheese) - we were enchanted!
Thank you so much for helping to make our holiday so lovely!

*** Linda and
Glenn from Bodrum 07 May 2007:
Ayvalik is our favourite Turkish coastal city so far and this lovely
bright house is a heavenly retreat. Greek and Turkish history and
memories come alive in the house. We loved waking to see the lovely sea
view and enjoying the plethora of local breakfast treats selected by
Ergin and Shelagh al fresco.
